THE COMMUNITY SERVICE TEACHER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Culturally Relevant Training from Classroom to Community

Starting September 2025, an exceptional opportunity is available for Indigenous Grade 12 graduates, parents, and community members—the Community Service Teacher Development Program. RETSD is proud to be an active partner in this program.

This hybrid education and training program is designed for Indigenous Peoples—Status, Non-status, Inuit, and Métis—living in Winnipeg, those who are interested in careers in community service or education and may face barriers to employment and need extra assistance to succeed.

In this year-long program, participants will learn about the fundamentals of child development, how children process information and learn, group supervision and management, and de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques.

Participants will also learn Indigenous perspectives, wellness, communication, advocacy, and leadership development. Practicums will be held with all six Winnipeg school divisions so participants can gain immersive work experience.

Graduates of the program will be qualified to work in a wide range of community service and education sectors, providing meaningful and culturally relevant support.

Tuition is free and a living allowance is provided. Please contact Neeginan Education, Training and Employment Services, Inc. (NETES) at 204.989.7110 or through their website to request an intent to register application.

Applications must be submitted by June 30, 2025, to:
