Indigenous Internship Celebrated
For the second year in a row, River East Transcona School Division and St. Boniface Hospital collaborated to offer an internship for Indigenous students. This year 12 students took part in the internship and their hard work was celebrated on June 3 during a luncheon hosted at the hospital.
Some of the key features of this internship include, students receiving handsāon experience in various medical disciplines; a mentor will be paired with each student to support them throughout; and an opportunity to network with healthcare professionals.
Not only has the internship allowed students to explore career options, but it has also allowed the school division and hospital to come together to support the potential next generation of healthcare workers.
