Premier Kinew Loves to Read at Wayoata
Wayoata School received a special visitor on February 7 for I Love to Read Month—Premier Wab Kinew!
The premier fist-bumped many of the students as he made his way to the front, took a seat, and read a book by local author Darlyne Bautista titled, “The Kapre in Kildonan Park.” It’s about a beast from Filipino mythology, and the premier got the students to growl as loud as they could and imitate the sound they thought the kapre would make.
Premier Kinew shared with the students that he made a point of visiting Wayoata because a friend of his, the late Nello Altomare, often visited the school to read during I Love to Read Month. Nello was not only the former education minister, but also a former administrator in several RETSD schools and a longtime Transconian.
