Truth and Reconciliation in Action

On September 27, students in schools throughout the division observed the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation—officially on September 30—by engaging in age-appropriate learning about the legacy of residential schools, and the systemic barriers and other challenges faced by Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

As well, staff from all division work sites, such as the Administration Offices and the maintenance and transportation departments, paused their day to gather, reflect, take part in a traditional smudging ceremony, and show a commitment to listen and learn.

In RETSD, we believe it is our responsibility to provide and engage in learning about this part of Canadian history, so we can all work together to make positive changes now and into the future.
