Parenting for Prevention: How to Talk with Your Early Years Youth About Substance Abuse

Parents and caregivers can have the biggest influence in aiding their child in making decisions about substance use . This information session will discuss how to start conversations with younger children and how to add to the conversation as the child gets older. We will give you tips to approach and guide the conversations and some key factors to keep in mind. In addition we'll provide information about the three most commonly used substances, cannabis, alcohol and nicotine (specifically vaping) and the unique risks they pose to youth.
