Helicopter Pilots Pay Visit to Robert Andrews

The morning of June 19, Grade 6 students from Robert Andrews Middle School gathered behind a fence, excitedly awaiting the appearance of some special visitors from the Canadian Armed Forces. Soon, they heard the rhythm of helicopter blades growing louder and two helicopters hovered, descended, and landed in the field by their school.

The helicopter pilots visited as an addition to the flight unit the Grade 6 students have been studying. The students got to talk to the pilots, share with them what they’ve learned, and learn some new things about helicopter flight.

This wonderful opportunity was made possible by the parent of a Robert Andrews student who is a pilot in the Canadian Armed Forces.

The school worked with the Armed Forces to ensure all the proper safety and supervision protocols were in place, and the RM of East St. Paul was made aware of and fully supported this important learning event.
