OUR LIBRARY

Welcome to our school library

Welcome to the library and to our program of information literacy. We believe that every student should have the skills necessary to navigate in today's information-rich society. Determining information needs, recognizing and selecting appropriate resources - whether print or online and managing the information are fundamental skills needed for successful academic research.

Students and parents can also search for resources at home by using the online library link on our school webpage under "Library."

Program Description

Our IBL program is divided into two sections.  IBL offers the opportunity for classes to be co-taught with the librarian and the classroom teacher. Time allotment is approximately a six week block. The focus is usually a research project for a content area such as science or social studies. Research projects are curriculum based and help to reinforce not only writing, critical thinking, and research skills but also provides students with the opportunity to apply the computer skills they have acquired. Each research project ends with a creative product which showcases what the students have learned in the unit.

Literature connections are made through our story time, book exchange and novel study units.
