NOTICE TO THE COMMUNITY: Proposed Adjustments to Trustee Ward Boundaries

The Board of Trustees of the River East Transcona School Division intends to pass a By-Law in Fall 2025 to adjust trustee ward boundaries in accordance with the Public Schools Act. The Act requires each ward to be within 25% of each other in terms of the total number of voters, and RETSD is currently above that threshold in one of the wards. This adjustment ensures equitable representation across wards, based on resident voter data from the 2022 civic election.

The proposed changes include:

• Reducing the number of wards from five to four
• Allocating three trustees to Ward 4, which will include the RM of East St. Paul
• Allocating two trustees each to Wards, 1, 2, and 3
• Minor boundary changes to Wards 2 and 3

Current Ward 5 will become part of proposed Ward 4

These changes would be in effect for the next general election of trustees which is scheduled to take place on October 19, 2026.
