We will have many opportunities to share our stories and enjoy learning together. There will be a get to know you meeting in the last week of October. Stay tuned to announcements. The group will also participate in the MANITOBA ABORIGINAL CAREER FAIR as well as the national fair later in the year. We look forward to sharing good relationships and creating success together.

*EXCHANGE PROGRAMS
Do you want in on an experience of a lifetime? I am not talking about a trip to the principal’s office, though that might be eventful as well. Way better than that. All students enrolled in language courses at REChave the opportunity to participate in a School Exchange Program to either Germany or Mexico. A few aims of the exchange program are for participants to improve their target language and gain a better understanding of a different culture. Participants of the exchange will have the excitement of hosting a student from a different country as well as the thrill of staying with their exchange partner in a different part of the globe. The School Exchange Program thrives on the active participation of the students and if self-motivation, commitment, academic excellence, and dedication to go the extra mile are characteristics that describe you, the exchange is certainly something you’d be interested it.

*NATURAL HELPERS
We know that students turn to their peers first for help and advice. To have students who are more insightful and skillful in providing such assistance would seem to be a good thing for a student population. That is the premise of Natural Helpers. Students nominated by their peers through a school wide survey are invited to a fall retreat to participate in 2.5 days of training that covers physical and verbal signs of stress, responses that really do help, and when and how to refer problem situations that require a different level of expertise. The retreat is held at the lovely Camp Cedarwood in the Whiteshell in November. Past participants have recalled the training as a highlight of their school years and something which did give them more confidence in how to help effectively. That has to be good for everybody.
