Activities

Assemblies

We have assemblies in our gym throughout the school year. Parents, relatives and friends are always welcome. The assemblies, which generally last about half an hour, are a great opportunity to see and hear presentations by individuals, classrooms and a variety of groups from our school.  Dates and times of upcoming assemblies are on our school website calendar.

Family Evenings

Throughout the school year, families have the opportunity to participate in some famuly events held at the school.  Some of these events are:  Family Barbeque, Family Craft Night, Movie Night and Laternenfest.  These evenings are special opportunities for families of our community to come together and get to know one another and have some fun.  These events are either free or held at a minimal cost.  Check our school website calendar for upcoming events. 

Field Trips

Valuable learning experiences can happen outside of the classroom setting.  Each Classroom Teacher usually organizes one (or more) field trips throughout the school year.  These field trips will have a curricular connection to the learning in the classroom.  Parents are informed of field trips with a permission note that must be signed and returned to the school.  Dates of field trips are on our school website calendar. 

Grade 5 Farewell

At the end of the school year we hold a special assembly to honor our Grade 5 students who will be leaving Princess Margaret to attend Middle Years schools. Various recognition awards are presented to students at this time.  The date and time for our Grade 5 Farewell can be found on our school website calendar. 

Hot Lunch

The Parent Council organizes a Hot Lunch order approximately once per month.  A variety of different restaurants are used to offer students a good selection of food for purchasing.  Hot Lunch is one of the fundraisers organized by our Parent Council.  proceeds go towards a variety of school special events, student activities and materials.  The dates for Hot Lunch can be found on our school website calendar. 

Intramurals

Our Physical Education Teachers organize the extra-curricular athletic programs which take place over the noon hours and recess times. All students have the opportunity to participate in activities, practice the skills taught in Physical Education classes and have fun.  These activities are announced during the morning announcements at school and highlighted in our school newsletter. 

Patrols

Each year our school arranges for bus, street and Kindergarten patrols.  Patrols assist students in getting to and from school in a safe manner.  patrols receive training from divisional and community personnel.  Paroles are considered leaders in our school and as such are expected to act as role models while carrying out their responsibilities.  Patrols are recognized for their ongoing hard work throughout the year with a variety of special events and rewards. 

Picture Day

Every year in early fall we allow a photography company to come into our school. They take individual and group photographs for families to purchase. The school collects the money for these photographs, with the understanding that the transaction is between the family and the photography company.
