OUR LIBRARY

Welcome to our school library

Welcome to the library and to our program of information literacy. We believe that every student should have the skills necessary to navigate in today's information-rich society. Determining information needs, recognizing and selecting appropriate resources - whether print or online and managing the information are fundamental skills needed for successful academic research.

Program Description

Our library has a varied and significant collection of both fiction and non-fiction books as well as magazines, graphic novels and computer software. We are fully automated and students can search for resources on one of our three look-up stations. All classes from 6-8 participate in regularly scheduled circulation classes as well as receive additional instruction in research, copyright, technology and multiple literacies. Students have the opportunity to learn about a variety of authors, illustrators and genres and participate in the Scholastic reading program. Students are also encouraged to spend additional time in our library for recreational reading, homework completion or to apply for one of our library assistant positions.
