OUR LIBRARY

Welcome to Donwood School Library

Our welcoming space was designed to encourage all learners to read, collaborate, inquire, and create. We believe that every student should have access to language-rich literature and meaningful learning opportunities.

Library Hours

Our library hours of operation are 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM from Monday to Friday.

Lending Policies

All students may borrow books over a six-day cycle. All books must be returned on the next library day.

Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2 students may check out 1 book per cycle.

Grade 3, 4, and 5 students may check out 2 books per cycle.

Borrowing privileges may be suspended while one or more items is past due.

Program Description

Students select books from the library once during a six-day cycle. Searching for resources can be done easily from any computer within the school. Students, staff, and parents can also search for resources at home by using the online library link on our school webpage.

Our library also offers Makerspace opportunities, where students are encouraged to become critical thinkers, design, and play. With the support of our Teacher Librarian, students are supported in inquiry-based learning (IBL) opportunities, STEAM/design tasks, and research projects. These activities are curriculum-based and reinforce literacy skills (writing, speaking, thinking, and research) while incorporating library and technology supports.
