Transcona Collegiate Receives Award from Rainbow Stage

Transcona Collegiate's original musical production, Unpenned, has been selected as a recipient of a $1,000 Rainbow Stage School Award for the 2023–24 school year! The award presentation will take place at Rainbow Stage on August 16, directly before the evening performance of Mary Poppins.

This award is given out annually to only three high school productions in the entire province and this is Transcona Collegiate's first time receiving the award. This also marks the first time in the award's history that an original production has won.

Transcona Collegiate drama teacher Cuinn Joseph wrote and recorded the music, his brother Connor wrote the book (the plot, character development, and dramatic structure), and they both directed. Dance teacher Jade Olynyk choreographed the production.

The show ran from March 11–15 and around 50 students were involved with 20 performing on stage and the rest building sets and overseeing props, costumes, lighting, sound, and graphic design.
