OUR LIBRARY

Our Library

Welcome to the Prince Edward School library and to our program of information literacy. We believe that every student should have the skills necessary to navigate in today's information-rich society. Determining information needs, recognizing and selecting appropriate resources - whether print or online and managing the information are fundamental skills needed for successful academic research.

Throughout the year, the teacher-librarian works with all classroom teachers on units of study  referred to as “inquiry-based learning.” This provides students with valuable opportunities to work on their research and technology skills. Students explore various topics through questioning, inquiring, reading, making connections, and organizing ideas. Learning to manage all kinds of information, from a variety of sources, is both challenging and fun! It is a very exciting opportunity for all involved.

Students also visit the library once per six-day cycle to borrow books, either fiction or non-fiction. Book exchange times allow students to explore the library and find something of interest to read. We love to read, and want to share that passion with our students.
