Grade 12 Provincial Tests
After a hiatus during Covid-19 from provincial exams, the Province of Manitoba has reinstated the Grade 12 provincial tests in the following subjects that apply to KEC students:
English Language Arts | Semester 1: January 9 - 12, 2024 Semester 2: May 27 - 30, 2024 |
Applied Mathematics | Semester 1: January 23, 2024 Semester 2: June 13, 2024 |
Essential Mathematics | Semester 1: January 24, 2024 Semester 2: June 12, 2024 |
Pre-Calculus Mathematics | Semester 1: January 25, 2024 Semester 2: June 11, 2024 |
These exams are mandatory for grade 12 students with only a few exemptions.
It is important to note the following from the Province of Manitoba:
“Students who are absent on the day(s) of a provincial test or who are unable to complete (all or part of) the test due to circumstances beyond their control (e.g., sudden illness, death in the family, family crisis, incapacity resulting from an accident) are governed by school or school division policy concerning absences during final tests (e.g., requirement for a physician’s note explaining illness).”
“Students who are absent without a legitimate reason (e.g., track meet, family vacation) or who refuse to write any part of a provincial test (by their own or parental choice) will receive a mark of 0% for the parts of the test missed.”
I am sharing this information with you now because the provincial test is worth 20% of your child’s final mark in Mathematics and English.
Please keep these dates in mind when you are planning for your grade 12 children.
Thank you,
M. Millman, Principal
