EMU User-Pay Lunch Supervision Program
On March 6, 2007,the River East Transcona School Division Board of Trustees moved to develop a new policy regarding user-pay lunch supervision programs. This policy recognizes that the care and supervision of a child during the midday break is a parental responsibility. However, non-profit, user-pay supervised lunch programs may be established and operated by parent groups.
École Magaret-Underhill recognizes that appropriate and adequate supervision is essential for the safety and well-being of children. The EMU User-Pay Lunch Supervision Program (UPLSP) is a fee for service program responsible for the safety and supervision of students during the lunch hour. The program employs a lunch program co-ordinator, a treasurer and a compliment of full-time and part-time lunch supervisors. These individuals supervise students during lunch time in the classroom and on the playground. Supervisors are provided with guidance and training through RETSD to support their efforts in working with children.
