Royal Winnipeg Ballet Hosted River East Transcona Divisional Day of Dance
The Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB) welcomed senior high school dance students from the River East Transcona School Division for the Divisional Day of Dance on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the RWB Professional Dance Studio in downtown Winnipeg.
This inspiring event brought together nearly 300 senior years students from across the division to participate in a full day of dance training, collaboration, and artistic exploration in a professional setting.
“Taking part in a divisional event gives students the experience of being part of a team of dance students they would not normally work with, fostering a greater sense of community and motivation,” says Carol Ridd, Divisional Arts Consultant.
Students had the unique opportunity to work with guest instructors from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, gaining exposure to professional standards and practices that can elevate their personal development and artistic goals. The RWB’s state-of-the-art facilities provided an ideal environment for students to refine their technique, interpret and create choreography, and deepen their appreciation for the art of dance.
“Working towards a performance or project in a professional venue can provide our students with a real sense of accomplishment,” Ridd adds. “Dance education goes beyond technical training—it nurtures creativity, adaptability, and problem-solving skills, helping students develop their own artistic voice.”
The Divisional Day of Dance is a celebration of talent, collaboration, and the transformative power of arts education. For more information, please contact your local River East Transcona senior years school.
