Water Damage to Classrooms
Unfortunately, over the weekend, a ceiling waterline froze and burst at John de Graff School; this resulted in 11 classrooms sustaining water damage. Upon learning of the incident, the River East Transcona School Division maintenance department attended to survey the situation and begin work to dry out the rooms.
As a result, classes are using the school’s larger spaces—including the gym, library, and music room—to accommodate students. These alternate spaces were assessed to be safe and dry. Teachers are also using outdoor spaces for some of their lessons.
RETSD is proud of how students, staff, and families have handled the untimely disruption. They worked collaboratively to make the best of a difficult situation. We also appreciate our families and community for their patience and understanding.
