Student Services

Arthur Day Middle School Student Services

The Arthur Day Student Services team is comprised of resource teachers, a LAR teacher and a counselor. The team goal is to maximize the potential of all students in an inclusive educational environment. This is accomplished by supporting teachers, students and parents through collaboration, consultation, direct service and documentation.

Resource

The Resource Team assists students, teachers, and parents in recognizing and planning for the academic, behavioural, social, and physical needs of all students.  The Resource Team collaborates with the school student services team, teachers, university student interns, Educational Assistants, parents, and divisional student services to support the growth and success of all students in an inclusive environment.

Counselling

The counselling supports at Arthur Day Middle School exist to assist teachers and parents in recognizing and planning for the educational, social emotional, behavioural and /or career needs of all students, collaborate with the school student services team, teachers, Educational Assistants, parents, Divisional clinical unit staff and outside community agencies to support the growth and success of all students, and work directly with students on an individual, small group or whole class basis to meet their guidance and counselling needs which respect the confidentiality of students but adhere to the basic premise of keeping all students safe.

Learning Assistance Room (LAR) Teacher

The Learning Assistance Room (LAR) is designed to support students in a variety of different ways.  Students may access the LAR for numerous reasons such as work completion, low enrollment setting, testing, a quiet work space, regulation support, breakfast and lunch or to receive medication as prescribed by a physician.  Accountability of work and connection is a main focus in the LAR. Although the LAR is open to all students, the LAR may only be accessed through teacher referral.
