Bernie Wolfe Community School was a busy place this morning, as Premier Brian Pallister announced an enhanced Respect in School program for Manitoba schools, along with former NHL player Sheldon Kennedy, who co-founded the program. After the announcement, they took time to visit Meghan McOmber's Grade 7 class to chat with the students.
RETSD was chosen for the announcement because of our early commitment to the original Respect in School curriculum, which 100 per cent of the division's employees completed by 2015. The online training is designed for administrators, teachers and others who interact with students, to help them understand and respond to incidents of bullying, abuse, harassment and neglect.
We look forward to continuing to use the Respect in School program as a part of our commitment to creating safe and caring environments for students.
